Summary: Rib, like many Shokuseijen, feels innately out of place among the many humanoid species in the stars. He is a simple, straightforward creature with no grasp on sarcasm, euphemisms, or 'common courtesy,' and struggles to articulate/speak in the common tongue due to his Alien nature.

While a naturally battle-driven species, the Shokuseijen - and Rib - are not necessarily stupid or dull. He enjoys a strong sense of kinship and camaraderie with those in his immediate circle, embracing a tribal form of social structure often considered primitive and barbaric by modern societies. This means Rib can form close attachments and trust with those who work beside him in spite of his general distrust and violence toward those outside of his circle.

Rib finds the most euphoria in battle against strong enemies, much like a Saiyan or Heran would. Unlike the latter, Rib does not look down or think less of those weaker than him. While they are perfect prey, Rib believes that it is within everyone's power to become strong. Strong enough to decide their own destiny and fight their own wars - to the point of seeing unified armies or cultures acting under a central leader as little more than enslavement and a waste of potential.

He despises long-term oppression or slavery, as the strong cushioning their lives on the backs of the weak is cowardice and a betrayal of the strength that allows them to do so.




Biography: Planet Shoku is an isolated, low-tech, tribal world predominantly populated by the Shokuseijin. It is a harsh planet - plagued by immense gravity, the dim light of a red star, immense volcanic activity, and only narrow strips of fertile land wedged between networks of mountains and caverns that most of the population reside in. Rib was born an average Shokun in a mountain stronghold, where his tribe were semi-nomadic raiders that sustained themselves on raiding other clans.

A rapid maturity meant Rib had been in the thick of combat for his entire life, often fighting with bare fists and claw. Basic metal tools, rugged farming, and foreign junker technology existed on Shoku but were sparse and expensive - far too difficult for a roaming tribe to use effectively or consistently. Having run into a particularly sour spot sometime when Rib was nine, the Shokun sold himself into the service of a passing galactic pirate crew in exchange for rations and weapons.

For the next decade-and-a-half, Rib served as the crew's unquestioning, voracious muscle. His natural battle power and tendency to follow orders no matter how horrid made him the captain's favorite. He ate like a King, slaughtered countless civilians and officers, and reveled in the challenges that presented themselves in space. One unlucky day, a sting operation by the Galactic Patrol caught the crew off-guard, killing many and arresting more. Rib resisted confinement, raging and murdering several officers - even shrugging off heavy blaster fire and low-powered rockets before they managed to subdue him.

In accordance with Shoku's perceived barbarism and the pirate captain's 'exploitation,' Rib was spared life in a max security prison and instead sent to a penal colony, where the authorities hoped he would learn to become more civilized if allowed motes of freedom. Though his sentence was nearly forty years, only two were spent before a prisoner transfer would ultimately change his life - the infamous Yangcong...
