Adzuki
Name: Adzuki
Age: 23, Physically 16
Race: Android
Tier: D Tier
Gender: Male
Orientation: Pansexual
APPEARANCE
Summary: The first thing people tend to notice about Adzuki are his long brown hair, his unique earrings and his striking amber eyes. The earrings are a keepsake from the family who revived him after death, and he's slowly been designing a loose ensemble around them ever since. His gauntlets and belted pants were customized to match the earrings, each with a similar star design and red color. Adzuki wears a pair of beat-up red Converse sneakers and only has a light tan cloak cover his chest. He's been a wanderer his whole life so he dresses like one. In cold climates, he usually just adds a thick red woolen coat to the ensemble.
Adzuki's expressions are extremely emotive and adaptable. One moment he can act the wide-eyed kind innocent, and the next he can be the conniving killer of Saiyans-- the shy smile to the Machiavellian grin. He has a strong awareness of his presence, posture and facial expressions and is good at putting out the image that he prefers other people see, though none of them are really a lie per se. He's just putting out a facet of himself that best fits the situation, or how he wants to express himself in the moment.
Face Claim: Hao Asakura - Shaman King
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Amber
Height: 5' 7" 170 cm
Weight: 122 lbs, 55 kg
PERSONALITY
Summary: To the humans that Adzuki has met in his travels on Earth, he's a kind boy. Even to strangers, he's always willing to give them a hand and stick his neck out for them. This is how he's made plenty of friends in his travels on Earth-- Adzuki is the kindest to humankind, and views them as a great culture of people. Humanity has a bounty of knowledge, wisdom, and kindness to give Adzuki so he tries his best to give back where he can. After all, it was Humans that saved his life, and Saiyans that killed him.
To Adzuki, Saiyans are a barbaric monsterous race that's done far too much bad to ever have true redemption. After all, their history is lined with mass killings, war, and the near-genocide of the Tuffles. To make it worse, they're proud of their actions and ability as warriors, the ability to kill. While there is logic in what Adzuki says and he attempts to make his arguments seem logical, there's a hidden emotional aspect to his hatred of his Saiyans. His father, after years of following him, was the one to teach him about Saiyan culture, and was the one to ultimately kill him. To Adzuki, his father was the epitome of the Saiyan race and his hatred of his father transferred over to the hatred of Saiyankind.
With humans and other races, Adzuki can see the shades of gray, but he always believes people are worthy and capable of redemption. In his mind, there are no shades of gray for the Saiyans, they all deserve to die.
When faced with a Saiyan opponent or an opponent he despises, Adzuki shows his conniving and controlling side. Always with an evil grin on his face, Adzuki is merciless and tends to play with his opponent-- he's more than a bit of a sadist. Almost never does he show this to people he wants to befriend or win over, since he's self-aware enough to know people will naturally see this as evil. This feeds into his greatest fear: being seen as a irredeemable monster, just like a Saiyan.
Likes:
✭ Traveling - For Adzuki, there's nothing quite like entering a new town, traveling through a new landscape, or laying in the middle of nowhere and looking up at the stars.
✭ Reading - Adzuki reread the few books his father permitted him hundreds of times-- now that he's free of his grasp, he's been reading everything from pamplets to encyclopedias.
✭ Technology - So much of Earth's technology is unlike the tech that his father had from the Saiyans. As a child, he learned to fix the dilapidating ship he and his father traveled on as well as his Dad's scouter, and now that he's an Android he can easily make repairs and modifications.
✭ Music - Music was rarely something that Adzuki was able to indulge in growing up, as his father largely saw it as useless. Since he's been reborn, he's learned the guitar. Adzuki always carries his instrument and a personal music computer (PMC) from Capsule Corp on him.
Dislikes:
✩ Saiyans - At this point, he's devoted nearly a third of his life towards training and building a Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans™.
✩ Not Aging - The effects of becoming a cyborg has essentially forced him to stay 16 for the rest of his life. While Adzuki is thankful, there is a part of him that's annoyed that he'll be treated as a child for the rest of his life, and the romantic in him now knows he won't get to grow old and die with someone he loves.
✩ Root Vegetables - Adzuki was always a picky eater as a child, and the thing he hated and continues to hates is root vegetables. While when he was younger he would eat it to avoid abuse from his father, now he just avoids them altogether.
HISTORY
Biography: The story of the Saiyan Davega is a pathetic one. Born of a Saiyan bloodline with minor importance to the Saiyan Royal Family, Davega was born a mid-level Saiyan Warrior-- not quite a low-born, not quite an elite. He, like many Saiyans, spent a majority of his time on the battlefield and on missions. Unfortunately, Davega was not quite competent enough to stand out as an excellent warrior, but just competent enough to get the job done and keep his mid-level rank.
As he grew into an adult, Davega grew ever frusturated with his situation and demanded he be made an elite, to the laughter and silence of his superiors in the Saiyan forces. Realizing he would never be truly recognized by Saiyan Royalty, he attempted a single man coup and failed spectacularly. It was a miracle he wasn't killed in his attempt, and Davega was imprisoned while his public execution was prepared. Somehow, despite his incompetence, Davega was able to escape his cell, grab as much as he could from his living quarters and left the planet with his infant son.
His son, Adzuki, was born just six months before the escape. While Davega had no personal interest in siring a child, at the time it was required of all mid-level and elite Saiyans to have a child by the age of 25 due to a perceived lack of children with high power levels. Davega didn't even know the mother's name and despite his general disinterest in the child, he saw Adzuki's potential as a future weapon against the Saiyan Royal Family.
Adzuki, being an infant, doesn't really remember this time. His first memory is the start of his training with his father on a planet called Ikonda. Davega never took training lightly with his son and just barely held back. When he was a toddler, Adzuki would typically leave training bruised and bloody, and had to learn to take care of his own injuries. Davega and Adzuki traveled from place to place, planet to planet. Davega initially grew paranoid that the Saiyan Royal Family would send their forces against him or hire someone to kill him. In reality, nobody really cared that Davega managed to escape and wasn't at all threatened by his return, now he was just a pathetic Saiyan exile.
Davega made money for food and goods by taking dirty work and underhanded deals. He killed a few people for money, robbed some businesses and people for money, and occasionally worked with organized crime for money. It was expected of his son to be his dedicated vassal, and learned to cook and repair the ship for his father. Even from a young age, the idea of being a servant for his father was constantly emphasized. The words that were burned into Adzuki's brain were "As long as you carry my bloodline, your choice is to be my vassal or die."
Adzuki at this time was a bit of a pacifist and didn't take to combat the way his father did. Even when out of combat training, Davega was abusive or too drunk to do much. This was often time for Adzuki to read the few books they had-- the repair manual for the ship, a book of Saiyan folklore, and a book of Saiyan history.
Adzuki learned to read by reading the manual as he was forced to fix his ship after being stranded on an empty planet. Adzuki often viewed the brutal training, the abuse, and the intense servitude as ways to earn his father's love or at least appreciation. By the time Adzuki was 10, he knew there was no way to get either of those things, but was too scared to leave his father.
When he was younger, Adzuki was mostly interested in rereading the book of Saiyan folklore and learning more about the ship, and only gave the Saiyan history book a read-through once. As an young teen, he began reading through it again and again, and was shocked by what was on the page. The book was written from a Saiyan perspective and glorified the Saiyan's violent history, but the truth was in plain sight. The Saiyans were monsters-- his father wasn't the exception, he was the epitome of the Saiyan race.
As time went on, it was clear to Davega that Adzuki wasn't going to be the fighter he thought he was. Davega kept him around, but cut on his son's rations to just enough to keep him alive, and stopped training him. The abuse got worse as Davega's disappointment in his son grew, and eventually Adzuki realized if he was going to survive, he had to leave.

"What did I tell you? What did I tell you a million times, boy?"
Adzuki laid bleeding in a field of golden grass, completely unresponsive, his Saiyan hand-me-downs covered in a deep red with a hole through his back. Davega took a swig from his tankard, his speech slurred as whiskey dripped into his beard.
"When you carry my bloodline, your choice is to be my vassal or die. I gave you everything and you squandered it, runt. Now die on this pitiful planet, die like my dreams of being an elite did."
The blood soaked into the grass, then into the dirt. Adzuki's eyes were wide open staring at the ground, but he couldn't speak. He heard his father stumble away as Adzuki blacked out.

One day, Adzuki and Davega made it to a new planet, one called Earth. To Adzuki, this place almost seemed like paradise, especially compared to some of the planet they'd been to before. The greenery was beautiful, the countryside was full of all sorts of interesting animals, and the people were kind. Adzuki decided to try and escape while camping in the forest, and made a break for it at dawn. Surprisingly, his father was awake and after a brief struggle, Devega shot a clean hole through his son's chest.
Davega left, but thankfully a genius engineer from the town nearby was on his morning walk. Dr. Howakan brought Adzuki back to his town to see the doctor. Unfortunately, Adzuki's original body was too far gone and was deemed dead, but Dr. Howakan had experience working as an unknowing employee of the Red Ribbon Army. Along with his wife and daughter, Dr. Howakan saved Adzuki at a small cost. Adzuki was reborn as an Android.
Of course, the former Saiyan was more than thankful the Howakan family saved him spent some time with them reorienting to his new life and learning from them. While with the Howakans, Adzuki was polite and kind, but in private, he was preparing to kill his father. Adzuki trained in earnest and found that his new body was faster and stronger than before. Adzuki left after a few months, saying he'd like to travel the world but really, he planned to track down and kill his father.
The journey to find his father took him about a year, using tracks from the place of his death as the starting place. Adzuki finally found his father on the edge of West City, drunken and having totaled the ship a few months ago. Davega was a complete mess without his vassal, and instead of the bigger fight Adzuki had envisioned, Adzuki simply blasted his father in the chest with almost no effort. So ended the pathetic story of Davega, and the story of his former son, Adzuki, truly began.
The death of his father began Adzuki's quest to end all Saiyans. With no ship, Adzuki instead spent his time training, travelling, and meeting new people along the way. Occasionally he'd hear about a Saiyan sighting or manage to sniff one out himself. Adzuki found no greater joy than in killing these monstrous murderers and giving them their just desserts.
Adzuki has been a wanderer for awhile, and has seen a lot of the Earth. He's spent the last six years among Humans, learning more about them while getting stronger than his Father ever was. Ironically, Davega's dream of a strong son has come true. Now, Adzuki is interested in enacting his first phase of his plan-- finding allies in his fight against the Saiyans. He just needs a ship...
