G loomy clouds hung over a miserable village like a dark curtain. The wind whispered. Several small homes had been scorched to ashes. Purple embers glowed in the murky soil. Only a single building, the village tavern, stood defiantly among the destruction. Inside, the atmosphere was equally somber. The townsfolk were gathered around round tables, drowning their sorrows in mead. Many clutched a copy of a weathered bounty poster. More of them littered the floor. They had been stuck to every tree, fence post and fleeing caravan along the way. The poster promised a sizable reward for whoever dared to hunt the dreaded demon dragon. It included a crude map pointing to the village, as well as instructions to inquire for details within. So far, no hunters had shown up... Couldn’t blame them. Who would be foolish enough to challenge that winged calamity? “Heyooo~!”The tavern doors flew open. A pink bundle of energy barreled inside. Instead of a fearsome hunter, the townsfolk were greeted by a tomboyish teenager. Dressed in baggy white pants and a black bandeau, the girl resembled a genie from a fairytale. Human she decidedly was not, as proven by her bubblegum-colored body. Rushing all the way over to the counter, Zam slapped down a bounty poster. “Is this the place with the dragon~?” A burly barkeep and a wizened elder sat stared at the visitor. Slowly, they shifted their startled gaze between her and the paper. Eventually, they nodded in unison. “Uh... Y-yes.”The little Majin’s eyes positively sparkled with excitement. “Awesome!” She pumped her fist and a whistle of steam rustled her messy hair. “I’m gonna beat it up!” Her enthusiasm was met with a baffled look. “Who... are you... exactly...?” Grinning, she tapped a thumb against her bouncy chest. “I’m Zam! Nice to meet ‘cha~!”Just when the elder was about to gently shoo the girl away from certain death, the barkeep nudged him. He leaned closer for a careful exchange of whispers. The burly man recognized the girl. Had heard stories from merchants. The description was pretty vivid after all. More whispering ensued, hastily shared stories. If someone could do it, then maybe... After a hesitant pause, the elder addressed the girl. “Uh, Zam...” He flinched at her bright smile. “Yup~?” Carefully, he weighed his words. “Are... Are you all alone?” Though he suspected he already knew the answer. “Yeah!”Honestly, despite the stories, the old man didn’t want to do this. Majin or not, all he could see was a young girl all too eager to march to a certain death... “Oh, um, well... You see... This is kind of a team task, so... It would be good if you had someone with you. Someone of your... level.” Hopefully that would dissuade her. None of the townsfolk would follow her into the fire. Zam blinked at the condition. “Oh, okay.” Turning around, she directed her attention and cheery voice at the rest of the tavern. “Hey, who wants to beat up a dragon~?”

May was unsure how she felt looking for work in the boonies. It was always a mixed bag of reactions when she went to these small towns and villages. Sure they were kind, and everyone one knew each other but that was a double-edged sword. Each whisper, side eye, and sniveling smirk always felt like daggers pointed right at her heart. They twisted, just at the edge of her flesh, agonizing from the panic of each possible reaction. That was potentially the drive to take on such risky work, she could prove herself. Or maybe it was just to face anything besides her own anxiety, of the fear that came with understanding another. It had been far too long since she had a friend, maybe it was time for things to change. Maybe the dragon would want to be her friend?
Her small frame was hidden in the crowd, the low lighting helped keep her blueberry features hidden. Not everyone took kindly to demons, a whole lot less if they realized what the monkey tail on her behind was. Shame, it was easy to feel when everything about you was seen as a warmongering monster. They weren't wrong on the monstrous part, wrath was quick to flip that switch for Maycair. In a second, a body twice her size would trip, bouncing off of her, causing them to crash into a table. "Hey watch where you're going, or you won't be watching much anymore." May would bow over, keeping her head low and her power done if she could. "Sorry sir, you're right..." She would say, keeping the anger back, it wasn't worth the snowball it would cause. The demoness wouldn't be making any money if she killed those trying to higher her. Plus, that wasn't very heroic.
She clearly wasn't the only one interested in the prospect of dragon hunting, a bright and bubbly young lady. It was pretty stupid to advertise you we're gonna burn yourself for money, and to ask others to join you. Then again, she was planning on taking on the creature and would probably need help as well. The young lady seemed fairly well off in the strength that she projected, but you could never judge a book by its cover.
"I can't believe I'm gonna do this..." She would mutter to herself. A little louder, her voice cut through like sour candy, sweet but harsh. "Yeah I'll join you on a suicide mission." May was bold in her declaration. Most would probably sputter a laugh at the mini-martial artist. She would approach closer to the young lady, she was just as strange as Maycair, so maybe it was okay to try and extend trust. Hopefully this one doesn't bite me in the butt.
Extending a hand, blue, bluer than the sea or sky, with dark violets showing in her veins. The clawed hand of Maycair held shakingly, trying to stay firm as her resolve came back. The terror of unveiling herself was greater than the dragon, it froze her blood and burned her skin. Each hair was a razor as the words would struggle to form. "Nice to work with ya, my name is Maycair and I have a feeling we're both just as odd."
Was this a truly friendly person, or was this another chance for someone to exploit her naivety? One could only make that mistake a few times before it would be fatal.

M uch to the little Majin’s jubilant glee, a friendly stranger took up her offer immediately. The mention of a suicide mission was met with a bright smile. “It’s okay~! Zam is immoral!” She proudly declared, before pausing to ponder. Hm, no, that didn’t sound quite right. “Um... Unbettable? Uhhh... Indeterminable...?” She offered, before finally puffing her bouncy chest. “Nothing can kill Zam.” At least her confidence was bigger than her vocabulary. As the mysterious traveler stepped closer, the bubblegum creature studied her closely. Her golden eyes glimmered with genuine curiosity. It was rare for her to meet anyone shorter than her. She cocked her head at the name and rolled it in her mouth a couple of times. “May... cair...? Maycair... Maycair~” Her expression brightened, as she got it. Yep, it fit well~ Without even a hint of hesitation, the cheery girl snatched the offered hand and shook it excitedly. Her grip was warm and squishy, like a toasted marshmallow. “Zam is a Majin, is what Zam is! Nice to meet ‘cha~!” She paid no mind to details like peculiar coloration. After all, she was pink herself. Gramps had taught her that the world was like a candy box, full of different colors, shapes and sizes. Suddenly, the chaotic creature yanked the shorter girl closer. She wanted to wrap her stretchy arm around her new friend’s shoulders. The term ‘personal space’ had no room in her vocabulary. Eagerly she turned to the old man, ignoring all the weird looks they got. “Look, look~! I found someone on my level~! Will you now tell us where the dragon is?”The old man recoiled. His expression went through several stages of shock, as he struggled like HFIL to think of an excuse... Any excuse... No? Okay, fine then. “Hrm, fine... The dreaded Poisonwing has a nest at the top of Dragon Rock mountain. If you take the road to the west, you’ll come across it shortly... If you succeed, bring a trophy as proof...” He muttered reluctantly. Beneath his breath, he added something about Kami having mercy on us all. Zam, however, barely bothered to listen to the directions. “Yaaay!” She sprinted out the door fast enough to leave the closest drunks spinning in their seats. Her arm stretched like rubber, trying to snatch her new friend’s arm. “Come on, let’s go~!” If Maycair got grabbed, she would find herself dragged along to a dangerous adventure. Oh, Zam, wait... That... That was the road to the east...

She had quite the energy, the young woman referred to herself as a Majin. It was a race May had heard of, seen in passing and only one May had ever known till now. The aura she exuded was bubbling, her own confusion cause by a rush of enthusiasm. How often was one excited to be running into a burning maw? Well if they were to work together the pair could accomplish anything, or so may thought it was better to tell herself that. "Well I'm a bit of a mixed bag myself. It sounds like with a lovely local such as dragon rock we're certain to be in for a good time." The sarcasm was heavy in her tone, but it wasn't enough to stop Zam from sweeping her off her feet. In a matter of moments, they would be rushing. Flying out in the wrong direction. May wasn't the most skilled when it came to directions but she was aware enough to know the difference between east and west.
"Wait wait WAIT!" She would say planting her feet down in the ground, her minute frame acting as an anchor. Dirt would dig up as she stopped them from progressing any further. "We're going in the wrong direction, plus if you're able we should fly. That'll be a much quicker way of travel unless you have a reason for which we shouldn't try that approach?" May wasn't a pro at fighting dragons, she wasn't sure about Zam's experience with such a creature so maybe there would be some master plan. Based on her fumbling of words earlier she wasn't so sure about that.
Turning around Maycair would say, looking at her with sharp but curious eyes "So Zam, you seem a bit excited about the prospect of fighting this thing. I gotta ask what are you in this for, I kind of want to do the right thing, or feel I can be something more than what I currently am." She didn't mean to make it personal, but if they were going to work together she wanted to understand a bit more about her partner's motivation. The demoness didn't want any reminders of the past times her partnerships had bit her in the butt.
May would hover into the air, ever so slightly in order to give the majin the chance to decide how they would proceed. She was the head of this quest anyways. She followed the path, making sure they were on the correct path to the mountain. If there was one thing to not be excited about it, it was fighting a powerful beast on its home turf. It would have the advantage, high ground, and positioning. Communication and surprise would be the main advantages, so it was time to form a friendship.

363 WORDS ▪ maycair ▪ GOOD PLAN, GREAT PLAN A s the anchor dug her heels into the dirt, the arm dragging her kept stretching... stretching... stretching... Until the chaotic creature finally lost traction and got yanked back with a rubbery snap. She tumbled along the ground, until she finally ended up upside down in front of the demoness. “...Oh.” Her legs dangled awkwardly over her bent body. For any other creature that position would’ve been painful. Or at least some form of advanced yoga. However, Zam bounced back onto her feet quickly. The comment about flying was met with awkward fiddling. She poked her fingers together, fumbling for words. “Um, Zam... Can’t fly... Sooo...” Aaand that was it. She didn’t have anything prepared beyond that embarrassing confession. Ever since she had learned that people can actually fly, she had been trying to figure it out on her own. No luck so far though... Fortunately, the demoness salvaged the mood by bringing up the chaotic creature’s favorite pastime. Fighting. Immediately her bright smile returned. “Cuz I wanna fight a big monster~!” Simple and blunt, much like the girl herself. “All my favorite heroes on TV fight super big monsters and it looks like so much fun~ I wanna be just like them~!” Her eyes twinkled with pure, innocent honesty. There were no hidden intentions behind them. Twinkling intensified, when Zam saw her friend hovering in the air. Utterly starstruck, she circled around the girl like an excited dog. “Wooow... So cool...” Soft sounds of awe left her lips. Tentatively she tried to defy gravity herself, hopping in place. Once. Twice. But the results were always the same. Gravity kept her in its greedy clutches. Suddenly, a bright idea sparked inside the Majin’s mind. “Hey, listen!” Standing on her tippy toes, she leaned closer. “Can you carry me? Please?” She pleaded earnestly. Her grin sharpened into a mischievous crescent. “We can reach the mountain way faster than walking. Then! I’ll blast that big meanie with my best booms until we win! Good plan, great plan~!” It was only fair to assume she hadn’t come up with that plan on her own... Because she hadn’t. “Just like in the latest episode of Wyvern Orb X~!”

"Well that's fair, it's not a skill that everyone picks up easily." May would say in response to Zam's disappointment. She didn't know why, but she felt she needed to prevent herself from making the young lady feel bad about herself. Sure May didn't go out of her way to make life miserable for others but there was something strange about Zam. Her wonder almost seemed child-like, the girl wanted to go fight a random monster just for the sake of proving herself. Then again, Maycair wasn't any better. She was doing this for herself, to vent to let out her emotion. Maybe find some reason or motivation in the world she felt so alien in. It was easier said than done.
A little blush would brush her cheek as Zam began to admire her flight. The energy of the Majin was in stark contrast to the somewhat serious tone carried by the demoness."It's not that cool but I suppose I am used to it as a skill set." She twiddled her thumbs, turning her leg as if she was on the ground still. "I think we'd have worries running to him in the air, but the air is still better than being left on the ground so I could probably carry you." May would shyly say. Turning around she would crouch like she was offering a piggyback ride.
"Please be careful, I should be more than strong enough to carry you, but I'm still tiny so you'll need to make sure you're holding on tight before I lift off. I can go pretty fast, I don't want you splatting on the ground." May spoke with a slight tinge of embarrassment. It warmed her skin, turning shades of blue to brighter purples showing how she felt no matter how much she tried to hide it.
Once Zam had gotten a firm grip on Maycair she would begin to lift, gaining speed in only a matter of seconds. They needed to get there quickly, but she would adjust her speed to match the Majin's comfortability. "I could teach you to fly sometime if you'd like..." May would softly say, before speaking up to say something else. "Wyvern Orb Z? Sounds interesting, I don't get to watch a lot of programs since I don't really have a home but that sounds quite nice. What's the show about?"
It would be good to keep the conversation going, or maybe she was just more bothered by the idea of silence.

M uch to the Majin’s immediate glee, her new best friend offered her a treasure better than any shiny trinket... A piggyback ride~! “Yaaay~!” Without wasting a second, she leaped on and wrapped her arms around the friend. Hugging tightly, she snuggled against her like a soft, warm marshmallow. “Ready~!” Luckily for everyone involved, she was just as light as she seemed. As the dynamic duo soared to the sky, the passenger could hardly stay still. Her legs wiggled with sheer excitement. Enjoying the wind in her hair, she laughed. “Nyeh heh hee~ No worries~” Stretching her rubbery neck, she got a closer look at her friend. Much, much closer. Way too close. “...Hey, you look kinda purple. Are you feeling okay?” In addition to having no sense of personal space, she also had no social filter. But she was still pretty sure her friend had been blue earlier, sooo... Soon, Zam’s head snapped back to the rest of her body. “Would you~? I would LOVE that~!” Her fluffy imagination was quickly filled with images of herself frolicking in the clouds and racing against birds. Eager wiggling intensified. Maybe Maycair should’ve been careful what she wished for... As soon as the demoness asked the careless question, the Majin’s excitement flared. “Ooh, it’s the best~! So, it tells about this brave warrior named Cake and his strong friends. Together they defend the earth from many, many bad guys, liiike Demon King Broccoli and Prince Vegetable. Then, in season two, it’s revealed that Cake’s name is actually Carrot Cake and he comes from another planet! And the planet was destroyed by the evil Lord Frogurt, so then-” And this gushing went on for several minutes. She didn’t even stop to breathe. Welp, at least there was no room for awkward silence. Thankfully, the torrent of TV show information came to an end, when the duo reached the infamous Dragon Rock. It jutted from the harsh mountainside like a jagged fang gnawing the clouds. Scorch marks painted the steep cliffs. Suddenly, the passenger patted the carrier insistently. “Look, look! Over there!” A pointing finger aimed dead ahead. Near the top, on a narrow plateau, a monstrous figure had curled up to sleep. Black scales shined like obsidian armor. Countless spikes lined the long back, all the way to the tip of the mace-like tail. Mighty wings cast long shadows. Wisps of purple smoke drifted into the air with each raspy breath. Even sleeping, the terrifying beast looked like something out of a horror story. “Fly us closer~! I wanna blast it~!”

It seemed that Zam was excited about flying, her excitement shook May up for a bit. Jostling them both up, May could've acted like she was falling but that wouldn't be nice. She'd stay stable, rising Zam higher, doing a twirl while the majin laughed. Is this what it was like having friends? Was she allowed that, there was no way Zam was trying to control her right? May started smiling a bit but stopped. No, she had to be safer, and more protective of her own emotions. "It's nothing I just was a little surprised by your excitement. I'm shunned by most crowds." She wanted some honesty, but she couldn't give anyone the edge over her again.
Still, they could enjoy their flight and Zam's quite detailed description of Wyvern Orb X. It sounded like a strange show, maybe something for juveniles who liked the action. Though she wasn't much better, she found beauty in raw violence and indiscriminate combat. There was just something so beautiful, about being a hero rather than just seeing them. Maybe it was the type of show May would actually enjoy, if she had a tv. Still hearing the majin explain it was comforting, the hybrid was really only good at smalk talking, small talk was definitely her weakness. It was a pure moment, a fun moment, just before they would arrive on the doorstep of the great smelly beast.
As violet smog from the great beast's maw drifted it carried putrid, sulfuric stench. It was more than that of a spring or rotten eggs, it was burning nostril curdling death. Acid and rotted, damp wood curdled with that of spoiled milk, it was an attack of its own right. May could barely help but hold back, tears cut away at her eyes. "Yeah it looks like we found him, I'll swoop by and provide cover fire. Also, if we're gonna play with a dragon how about I try and level the playing field?" Her Demon Shape would grow, May turning into a dragon of her own right. Her body grew, wings coming out of her back fur spreading across her chest and body. Her torso and arms were like that of a bat with the head of a wolf, a viper's neck the legs of a raptor, and great stag antlers.
"Let's see who is the better beast!" Way would roar, shocking the dragon awake while she dove by for Zam to perform her first strike.

327 WORDS ▪ maycair ▪ CHECK THIS OUT T he excited Majin could hardly wait. Here they were, at the doorstep of a real dragon. She wanted to just drop down and deck that drake! In the face! Fortunately, she managed to scrape together enough patience to listen. ...Or maybe it was just her boundless curiosity. Either way, the strange suggestion caught her attention. “Huh...?”It was all the curious creature managed to utter, before her friend started shifting. Her jaw dropped. She stared in utter awe at the transformation. “Awesomeeeee~!” She squealed like a kid on a roller coaster. Not only would she get to beat a dragon, she also got to ride one! Best day ever~! Finally, the trickster managed to reel her hanging jaw back in and focus. She stood up on the demoness dragon’s back. Slouching forward, she took a stance that resembled a marionette puppet dangling from invisible strings. Her cheery smile sharpened into a crescent grin. Gathering energy sparked like pink static. She focused her gaze keenly on the foe, as if taking aim... “Nyeh hee, okay~! Check this out~!”Zam curled her arms and coiled her fingers. Handfuls of raw, pink Ki crackled in her grasp. Giggling beneath her breath, she started flailing wildly. Each swift swing fired a shiny blast, quickly adding up to dozens upon dozens. The rapid Sparkling Barrage bombarded the dragon’s dark hide with glittering explosions. Just when it seemed like the assault might be over... The pink static sparked again. Maniacal laughter erupted from the Majin’s lips. “Nyehe... Aahahahaha!” She poured more power into her hands. Another Sparkling Barrage followed, just as vicious as the first one. For someone so small, she packed some serious firepower. Evidently, the dragon didn’t like that. It let out a horrifying roar. Purple miasma pooled in the back of its maw, before it spewed out a stream of foul flames. The wicked attack scorched through the surrounding stones. Eeeyup, getting hit by that would probably be really unhealthy. ▪ STATS ▪HP: 60/60 HP ▪ STRENGTH: 10 [E-tier] STAMINA: 5/5 ▪ KI: 12 -> 32 [Laughing Trickster] [C-tier] KI POT: 7/10 ▪ AGILITY: 11 [D-tier] ▪ ACTIONS ▪▪ Activated fighting style Laughing Trickster (+20 Ki) ▪ Used ST [Sparkling Barrage] (-1 Ki Pot) ▪ Used ST [Sparkling Barrage] (Sustained, -2 Ki Pot) Technique Name: Sparkling Barrage Type: Offensive Tier: Standard Stat: Ki Description: The user coils their fingers and gathers handfuls of raw Ki. If one dragon would let out their ferocious breath then so would the other. She let her ki build, her Primal Magic boosting her power. It's flames seemed more than ferocious, they were sickly and toxic. The purple bile would eat away at whatever it touched, Maycair however would be bringing down the power of the stars. The ki within her mouth would begin to coalesce until it was darker than night until it was stealing the light around to make a golden ring. It was great, bright and shiny, it was the Quasar Flare to burn through the dragon, to hopefully put it down before it could take flight.
Then, with the snap of her jaw, it would fire, ripping through the air. The screech of burning air would deafen the demoness for a second. With the barrage from both the young ladies, she assumed it would've made the beast back down a little, now it was lifting up, burning ki on its body it looked like it was in the running for a fight. The passion that Zam carried was just as terrifying as the anger that the hybrid kept locked up. She didn't plan on letting it out at the moment, but it was smart of her to keep it in hand in case she needed to use it.
"That should do some damage to him, it took a bit of my energy so we're gonna have to try and knock him down from the sky", hit him hard with whatever you got!" she would roar, clashing into the foul beast, locking talons she would try and hold him in place to give her new found friend to hit the beast with whatever she could.

344 WORDS ▪ maycair ▪ SOMETHING COOL E ventually, all barrages had to come to an end. As the final spark exploded, the Majin’s arms flopped again. She wheezed and a wisp of steam escaped from her mouth. Yet the maniacal grin wouldn’t fade. She loved this warm, tingly sensation after all. Her body was burning up in all the best ways~! The chaotic creature staggered, when her friend suddenly unleashed a huge attack of her own. Her eyes started twinkling with that childish wonder again. “Gold ring twinkly beam...” She muttered softly. Her friend could fly, transform and shoot awesome attacks... She wanted to be just like her! Naturally, the trickster didn’t need to be told twice to hit something hard. She bounced down from her friend’s back and landed onto a small cliff. “Nyeh hee, okay~! Watch this~!” Gramps was always telling her to hold back, because people were squishy and houses were fragile... But this was neither a person nor a house. That meant she could hit it with her strongest blast, right? Right~! “Hey, dragon... Wanna see something COOL?” Her ominous question drifted in the wind. However, the dragon didn’t answer. It only roared, as the demoness locked talons with it. Oh well, whatever! It could be all grumpy and huffy. That wouldn’t stop the Majin anyway. Zam raised her palm towards the sky and huffed with deep focus. Her whole frame sparked with pink static, as volatile energy began gathering. Bright, pink Ki formed an orb in her grasp. It kept swelling, bigger and bigger, as she poured more and more power into it. Once it reached the size of a beach ball, she reared her hand back... “Here, catch!” ...And flung it with all her might! To the beast’s credit, it immediately opened its maw and spewed out more foul flames to clash against the incoming attack. However... The orb wouldn’t stop. It bulldozed right through the wicked breath and into the gaping maw. The dragon recoiled, eyes widening, as the energy hit the back of its throat. Boom. A massive, pink explosion swallowed the beast. ▪ STATS ▪HP: 60/60 HP ▪ STRENGTH: 10 [E-tier] STAMINA: 5/5 ▪ KI: 12 -> 32 [Laughing Trickster] [C-tier] KI POT: 6/10 ▪ AGILITY: 11 [D-tier] ▪ ACTIONS ▪▪ Used DT [Glitter Bomb] (-1 Ki Pot) Technique Name: Glitter Bomb Type: Offensive Tier: Deluxe Stat: Ki Description: The user raises their palm towards the sky and charges up a bright pink orb of volatile energy. It grows to the size of an average beach ball, about 1 meter in diameter. Then, the user chucks it towards a target at an immense speed. Upon contact with anything solid, like a building or the ground, the ball bursts into a massive, sparkling pink explosion. The immediate destruction covers roughly a 30 meter radius. Both the orb and the resulting explosion bulldoze through all Standard Techniques of an equal or lower tier and Deluxe techniques of a lower tier than the user’s Ki.

After such a sparkly attack, and May's previous blast sure was sure the creature had to be down, she just had to make sure. Before the smoke had a chance to clear, May would maintain her demon shape, allowing a Black Hole Bomber to fly out of her own dragon form. The black ki would fly forward at the snap of a jaw, dragons were ferocious so if they didn't keep it down it would come snapping for them like a morning snack. That didn't sound too desirable so she would swoop down, dropping her form to return to her normal self, and running up to Zam. She seemed to be quite the resilient lady, she just wondered how she managed to meet such a woman.
"You okay Zam, I think we need to be careful, I'm not sure if it's down I can't quite get a read on its Ki just yet." Her sharp eyes darted around, looking for a shadow, but nothing could be seen, had it moved? Was the blast so strong it knocked the creature away? It basically ate her attack, could it survive that even? It would be impressive if it could, but also a nightmare. "That was a great shot, if it's dead I hope there's something left to prove we actually killed the beast..." she muttered slightly walking over to the spot where the beast was.
If it was a dragon, and this mountain was a cave there was a good chance that there was gold in there. Treasure would be pretty helpful for helping her have an actual home. It would be nice to not always look for her next lodging, especially after the monastery incident a few months back. Her thoughts, day dreams became a maze, losing Maycair within her own mind. Overthinking was always one of her issues, it would only be so long until that would extend to her friend. Was this just for the mission, or was the friendliness just to get the job done? Zam didn't seem that type, or so she kept thinking, what if this anxiety was well-founded? Soon the path she walked began to spiral, she was lost in the world around her for this little drop in the day.

O nce the assault was over and the swirling dust started settling, the huge silhouette came into view again... The dragon was still here! ...And there. Aaand a little bit everywhere. Ew. Bombarded by brilliant blasts, the poor beast never stood a chance. Only a smoldering carcass remained, surrounded by various bits and pieces. One such piece had lodged itself firmly through Zam’s chest. She blinked at the razor-sharp dragon tooth currently pinning her to a wall. “Hm hm, I think it’s dead~!” With a huff of effort, she pushed herself off the wall. The tooth came along with her. Another huff dislodged it. The grievous hole closed like it had never even been there. The Majin hoisted the trophy triumphantly and hurried after her friend. “Check it out~!” She grinned slyly. “I think this proof is pretty... fang-tastic~! Nyehehehehe~” Of course, a trickster like her loved terrible puns. Together the dynamic ventured deeper into the dragon’s cave. The spiraling path took them into the dark depths of the mountain... Until they were greeted with shimmering light. A soft, lilac glow kept the shadows at bay. Before them opened a cave lined with beautiful amethyst formations. Supernatural senses could notice they were brimming with the same foul power that the dragon had been spewing. Occult fanatics and other eccentric collectors would definitely pay a small fortune for rare shards like these. Zam, meanwhile, drew a different conclusion. “Oooh, rock candy~!” With the happy squeal, she took a bite out of the nearest rock and... Clink. “Ow...!” Refusing to give up just yet, she gave the crystal a tentative lick. A zap of wicked power shocked her. “Bleh... I think this candy has gone bad...” She mumbled bitterly.

She was surprised at how durable the Majin was. She'd never seen their capabilities of them quite up close till now but it seemed she was more durable than one would think. It might've been tough but who knows, she could've maybe taken on the big beast by herself. It could've been kindness, but she was still in awe of her friend's strengths. With her having gotten a hand on their proof of kill it would've been enough to turn back around and return to the tavern to claim their reward. Dragons, however, are commonly known hoarders so it was fun to question what the beast might have kept in its home.
As she ventured further in she could only help but bare a smile at Zam's excitement. The lights danced across a hundred pretty stones in the cave. Its gems glittered with the resplendence of the treasure that waited for them even further inside. There were piles of it, from the mundane items and trinkets of common folk that got swept up in its gathering to great mounds of gold. Their gems, necklaces, rings even what seemed to be an old beaten-up crown. The amount of money that could be given back to the people, was enough to turn villages into cities. It was great, apparently great enough for Zam to think it was a snack. "Not that kind of rock, this candy is more of for people to use for things. Often jewelry, this would do the village right. We'd probably be able to help all the villages nearby."
She didn't have much use for money, or that is she had no need for such an absurd amount. She lived her life in what felt comfortable, these people had things to live for and plots to manage. There wasn't anything she had in this whole world besides the clothes on her back and the items in her bag. Everyone could do for a bit more change but she had no greed in her heart. Not for any of us this. "Well, let's get this all taken care of I'd say, and hoof it back to town. Zam you're a joy I never knew I needed in my life."
It came out naturally, something the hybrid did not expect from herself. There was something about this, about this moment of honesty that she had never felt in her life before. The one friend she had before ended up just being another who saw Maycair as something to control. It was a thought and worry that always came back to her head no matter what. She wasn't good at avoiding all these thoughts, it's what's always kept her on the run for most of her entire life. Was it fine for once to let things go?

Z am’s sour expression brightened when her wise friend mentioned helping the nearby villages. Her gaze started positively sparkling. “Ooh, good plan, great plan~!” She chimed eagerly. The shinies didn’t interest her personally, but Gramps always told her that it was good to help people in need. She was sure he would be super proud of her! “I’ll help you carry stuff~”Hoisting the huge fang over one shoulder, the Majin launched her free hand at the nearest treasure chest. With a grunt of effort, she lifted it as well. Excitement painted a cheery grin across her features. “I like you too~ You’re fun and nice~” Her approach to friendship was far more direct. She liked Maycair, so they were friends. Simple as that. Only time would tell what misadventures the two friends would find next.
