BENEDICT | HOWLER
Name: Formerly Dr. Benedict Howler, now Atom
Age: Formerly 75, now 3
Race: Bio-Android
Tier: D-Tier
Gender: Male
Orientation: Asexual
APPEARANCE
Summary: Howler, once an aging and deteriorating old man, is now an adolescent, inorganic bio-android of Red Ribbon design. Sporting a short, child-like size, the new-born Atom stands at around a meager three and a half feet tall, his body plated in violet-toned chitinous segments that alternate between a spotted pattern and a solid-black shell. His joints - shoulders, knees, and elbows - also sport particularly reinforced chitin, thick pads that jut out from his frail figure, and the solid black elytra on his back conceals nearly his entire form when at rest. He does possess fully-fingered hands but his toes have fused into two longer appendages, and he seems to have lost his nostrils entirely. Across his chest is emblazoned the recognizable symbol of the Red Ribbon Army, a sort of trade mark for the body they created.
Indeed, his face has changed to resemble the adolescent form he takes now, recessed into his positively alien head. His eyes now reflect dark red irises, and his lower face is hidden behind a protective yellow shell; built for combat.

PERSONALITY
Summary: For his entire career, nothing would have defined Dr. Benedict Howler more than three words: Cautious, Timid, and Curious. Nothing has fascinated him more than the vast field of biology and bio-engineering; while his companions were focused squarely on the stars, Howler found just as much intoxicating intrigue down on Earth, pouring himself over the odd mixture of biodiversity on the planet where he lived. In particular, he was interested in how early species appeared on the planet -- this curiosity lead him to become fixated on the idea of discovering the full genome of the Missing Link, where Beastman and Human split into clear, diverse species of their own.
However, that sort of fresh approach to science has gone from Howler in his new state. Now, those descriptive words could be replaced with a newfound Paranoia, an earned Cynicism, and a blazing Conviction. Indeed, betrayal at the hands of the Red Ribbon Army has tarnished his opinion of his colleagues and the scientific field at large, and he is now convinced that Earth needs to be defended not from outside invasion, but from the dramatic oversight of the major organizations claiming to act for its defense.
Retaining his mind, Atom is quite entertaining as a child-like figure able to recite and recall his vast scientific knowledge and his clear, broad vocabulary. However, he never speaks in such a way as to be condescending; in fact, Atom's patience and understanding is surprisingly extensive, a direct result of his profound ability to empathize. He does, though, find it quite amusing he appears to be so young - his speech is anachronistic as well, betraying his true age.
A direct opponent to the Red Ribbon Army, Atom has an ocean of animosity for the group and all that they represent, and is more than willing to turn his longstanding aggression their way. Despite its many advantages, Howler quite dislikes his new form - in particular, the very visible Red Ribbon symbol across his chest, a constant reminder of where it came from.
It would be a lie, however, to say that Howler doesn't revel in his gifted strength. Despite his opposition to its existence, he still has the ever-burning spark of scientific curiosity at his core, and he is very interested in just how far he can push the Bio-Android he inhabits. Doubly so, he interested in maintaining its strength so that he may use it to crush Red Ribbon, and wants to be on the frontlines of that conflict himself, in any way possible.
HISTORY
Biography: Benedict Howler was born and raised in West City, where he earned his Doctorate in Biology and Genetics, started his family, and begun his early career in earnest working alongside his college classmates in the largest hospital in West City. However, a new and tantalizing opportunity opened up to him when the Red Ribbon Army began their scouting process for the best minds in robotic engineering, manufacturing, and most importantly, bio-engineering. Particularly interested in where their resources may allow him to take his field of choice, Howler jumped at the opportunity and began participating in their early scientific research.
However, Howler was always the odd duck out. While the subject of interspace travel and theorized alien life forms were interesting to him, he felt very strongly that they had more than enough material to work with on the planet, and fought very hard for his research to stay funded, becoming the laughing stock of his colleagues, often chided for spending his time looking at specimens found in pond water, lizards, and other admittedly mundane things. Still, he managed to keep much of his research justifiable for decades, simply ignoring (or, perhaps, being oblivious to, the treatment his department was giving him) the biting words of his supervisors and assistants. That was until he, specifically, was tasked with creating something entirely new - developing the next evolutionary step in earth's life forms. This in particular had become a topic of intense focus for the doctor as he spent much of his time trying to meticulously document the life patterns, dna signatures, and chemical compounds found in the various dominant species of his home planet, but in particular that of races deemed 'sentient', such as Humanity and their Beastkin brethren. Jumping at the opportunity to play a direct part in this evolution, he had unknowingly laid the groundwork for his own demise.
After many years of trial and error, the doctor had finally gotten close to a breakthrough -- he had been able to create a genetic chimera, a fetus-like creature that could survive with the assistance of gallons of chemical slurries and a perfectly contained atmosphere, but nothing he was doing could maintain the creature for longer than a few months at a time. It had, he observed, far too unstable a dna structure, and as his career was beginning to peak he feared that the Red Ribbon scientists would can the project and force him into an early retirement. Not interested in leaving the field anytime soon, he had done the unthinkable, and spliced the creature's home-grown human cells with his own.
As such, the project had begun to turn around. Now they could fully observe the growth pattern of the life he was creating, but the project was swiftly taken from him. Indeed, his fears were correct, and the doctor was given a resounding and unceremonious discharge from his position as an upper-level biological engineer. Furious with this, before he left, the doctor had devised of a method of sabotaging this project -- he had imprinted his own mind into the shell of their latest experiment, slipped it into the network of the being's fresh headspace, before being forcibly removed from the laboratory for the final time.
What happened to the doctor from then on is a mystery to this Doctor Howler, who had incubated in a series of larger test tubes for around a year before his body was feasible. All the while, his consciousness was held in a sort of regenerative stasis, believing itself to be the true Howler undergoing some kind of experimental treatment, the fruit of his labor. For another year after his second birth, the creature - known to the Red Ribbon Army as Project Atom - hid this reality from his stooge observers, simply doing as he was directed in order to test and hone his physical abilities, which had far surpassed any expectations for the project at large. For a long time, despite his espionage, the Doctor was quite happy - he really, truly developed what he had believed to be a superior being, the next step in life forms for Earth at large.
There were some problems, though. Atom was a successful weapons test, but no development had been spent ensuring the continuation of his species. Of course, the Red Ribbon Army had planned this from the beginning, to use Atom as a blueprint to create an even more advanced swath of bio-engineered soldiers for nothing more than their personal gain. Once he was considered field-ready, they had been planing to 'accidentally' drop him into East City to cause a chaotic event, documenting his destructive power and using it to justify more research. The thought of such a thing terrified Atom, which still contained the consciousness of Benedict Howler, and once released he simply fled, spending a year up until the present largely hiding from the public eye. During this time, he learned that his original body had been killed - not by old age, but by the Red Ribbon, frustrated with the lack of results from his final and most crucial project. Since then, he had both been surviving on his own and following the army's movements, swearing his vengeance to overcome the group that threatened the safety of the planet.
